Growing
up in the remote western hills of West Virginia, Mark Zicke
'foose' developed
a strong bond to grassroots acoustic music. From Lester Flatt
and Ray Charles to B.B. King and the Almond Brothers, his family
would spend countless hours listening to many of the great musical
artists that still influence his sound today.
This working
relationship with American radio would later continued as a
young adult,
hosting a weekend series of grassroots programming
for several years as a radio disc-jockey for WKKS in Vanceburg,
Kentucky. Commercial work soon followed, lending his warm tone
and cool vocal style to a number of radio and television voice-over
tracks in the northern Kentucky and southern Ohio region. These
commercial opportunities would bring him to the Motor City market
a few years later.
His father,
who spent many years teaching him the 'ins-and-outs' of the
automotive painting industry, would
soon give him the
strength and stability to step out of the radio market and
pursue other
opportunities. After relocating to West Michigan in the late
80's, Foose would soon become one of the leading forces behind
'the way
things get done' as a representative for the Midwestern American
market.
Nights and
weekends would prove to be his nemesis. A childhood fan of
motorcycles since the ripe old age of five,
he has developed
many innovations to accommodate this lifestyle. The latest
project, a custom quick release design that mounts a travel
guitar case
to any large frame motorcycle, (www.zmotorcase.com) is one
of the many creative endeavors he has produced from his
newly renovated
workshop in Clarksville, Michigan.
But the music
has never waivered. Mark brings a real foundation to our project
no matter
where we are... a true storyteller,
you can always count on his friendly smile, colorful history
and powerful
rhythm guitar chops to carry us through! |
